Song Analysis with Daniel: Walking With A Ghost
Walking With A Ghost - Tegan and Sara
Walking With A Ghost - The White Stripes
me: no mater which way you go
me: no matter which way you stay
me: your out of my mind
me: out of my mind
Daniel: is tht a song?
me: cuz, I’ve been walking with a ghost
me: and I said please
me: please dont insist
me: yes its a song
me: do you want me to send you the original
me: or the white stripes cover?
Daniel: just tell me who it is and wats it called
me: they totally stole the guitar part from crazy train though
me: but its still a good song
me: original
me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtCGODjuRq0
me: white stripes
me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeYyoU8kKPQ
me: I dont know which version I like better
Daniel: i like the white stipes
me: yeah
me: but the other one
me: idk
me: sounds more original
Daniel: ya
Daniel: i dont like the way the song abruptly stops every beat
me: the white stripes one
me: he changed the chord progession
me: and it sounds like the beginning of Crazy Train
Daniel: eh
Daniel: i like the way the original one flows
me: yeah
me: idk
me: it sounds better
me: I cant tell why
me: it just does
Daniel: ya
me: the White Stripes one sounds good
me: but not as good
Daniel: ya
me: I like the way he sings it though
me: like if you mixed the two together
me: it would sound amazing
me: or
me: more amazing
Daniel: i think if the white stripes played the instruments with the normal progression
Daniel: then it would be better
me: maybe not so much distortion
me: or a different distortion
Daniel: ya
me: the one they have sounds too metal
Daniel: ya
me: the original has one acoustic
me: then an electric
Daniel: mhm
me: the acoustic just sounds better
me: maybe if he gave it a fuzz distortion
Daniel: ya
Daniel: or an octave fuzz
me: yeah
me: its good
me: but it could be better
Daniel: mhm
Daniel: maybe a little more sax
me: what if…
me: they had a saxaphone
me: doing the secon guitar part
Daniel: dude tht would actually sound amazing
me: make it a bit more bluesy
Daniel: LEARN SAX
me: and I am learning
me: I wonder if a sax would sound better with an electric or acoustic…
Daniel: i think the sax would replace acoustic then go into a short sax solo
me: no
me: you wouldnt get the same effect from a saxaphone
me: you still need a guitar in the lead part
Daniel: ya thts wat im sayin
Daniel: the sax would be like a rythem guitar
me: yeah
Daniel: and then do a little solo
me: you can barely hear it in the Tegan and Sara version
me: but it would sound good on a sax
Daniel: do u hav a tenor or an alto sax?
me: Alto
me: but I want a tenor
me: it would sound better
Daniel: which one is the bigger one?
Daniel: the tenor?
[23:00] monkeybox1995: tenor is a lower
[23:00] monkeybox1995: between alto and bass
[23:00] monkeybox1995: low
[23:00] monkeybox1995: but not too low
Daniel: mhm
me: alto is a little too high for my taste
me: can’t hit the low notes as easily or as well
Daniel: mk
[23:01] monkeybox1995: but then you could keep the drums from the White Stripes version
Daniel: ya
[23:02] monkeybox1995: we could probably record our own version if we set our minds to it
Daniel: mhm
Basically as the site says, Hail to the Ch-Ch-Ch-Chief. I don’t know weather to be weirded out that this is real or to be patriotic. Click the picture and you can buy it. Please don’t buy this for me as a gift.
Book Report
On a muggy summer’s day that makes one think of some exotic rainforest in a South American country, even though I’m squarely situated in the middle of my suburban Florida street. On days like these I can often find myself without plans, and no motivation to make any. So instead breating water while I strole up and down any number of oddly named roads in my subdivision, I settle down with a book freshly borrowed from my local library.
So on days like these where the humid Florida heat holds me hostage and indoors, I can often finish an entire novel before I finally fall asleep. Today was no different, since moments ago I finished Forever Odd. This is the second book in the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz. With the third book in the series, Brother Odd, among a few other books, I decided to start writing the occasional book review. Of course they won’t by seen by many, but it give me something to do when Florida rears it’s humid head.
I sometimes go around and take pictures of things and post them on my Flickr account. I’m planning on going to Tarpon Springs, and downtown Ybor to try and get some better shots.
